random crashes ??

When i use cubase i experience random crashes from my pc. I am currently using cubase vst24 interfaced with the motu2408. My pc is a pIII 600, 256RAM running windows 98. I was wondering if anyone with similar configurations is having the same problem and a possible fix.

I know you said random but can you give anymore details - there are so many random crashes and I know a few answers but not all.

The crashes: My computer freezes and you can hear the audio looping real fast like "da da da da da da da" and i am forced to reboot my computer, this is really anoying

Yeah, I get this on emyself but I must admit I usually do it to myself - this usually happens when I overun the processor. Keep an eye on the VST performance panel (from the panels menu) and see how high it gets before crashing.

If it's not that, I understand that graphics cards can sometimes cause this - I seem to remember hearing that a PC will wait for the graphics to update before the audio and this can cause the same type of freeze as overloading the processor.

IMHO, it's probably the former option..
