I resently bought one of these things, they're great isolators. But I have a serious problem with my guitar tone. The damn thing just make the sound so isolated (kinda obvious you might say). But I figure that there must be a way round that isolated tone.

I use a Laney LH50R amp and a Laney Vintage60 speaker mounted in the box. Then I mic the speaker with a Shure SM57. My guitar is a custom ESP with EMG 81's. I get a rather cold crunchy sound through my setup. I personally like it when I play through the Laney 2x12 cab. But I can't crank that cab at home when recording.

I'm recording, using a computerbased system. The micpre's are Ok and I have a couple of plugins that onfortunatly don't run with the Low-latency mode when recording. So I have to add them during the playback. Adding some plugin Reverb doesn't do it for me!!!!!!

Does anyone use one of these Isoboxes? Maybe you have a homebuilt one. Do u have any tips on how to make the sound better, open it up a bit?

And yes, I'm desperate and I really, really don't want to buy any moe stuff!!!

I use one occasionally... it's works fine... if you want a more ambient sound though, you definitely DON'T want to use these guys!

Try leaving the top open...!

(yeah - it defeats the purpose, but if you're looking for an open sound, iso boxes aren't the way to do it anyways!)

You mention 'reverb' not working. Have you tried 'shorter' versions? Sometimes just a bit of real tight ambience, maybe filtered (low roll-off, mid-taylored, or not), predelayed, ect. can be just enough. It's not a real room, but...
(Sorry if this is too obvious and you've BeenThere, done that.)

No man, that's the thing, I don't even know how to get a decent reverberation from my Plug Ins. They're not that High End, if you know what I meen!? I'd really like some TDM's but they're too expensive. My reverb Plug In is called "D-verb"...
