Thanks guys. This is just business as usual to me. I am a software engineer by day so this is the wall that I bang my head against on most days.

I agree with Snake, http://www.windowsupdate.com/ will help you install all the fixes you need. In addition, two points:

1 - Another thing that is very important: Create another user in windows as a "Power User" and log in as that user for all your everyday stuff. When you need to install something or run something as an Administrator, use Right-Click -> Run As menu item. Ever since I did that, I have had any issues with my compuer. Anything that will try to sneak in via Internet Explorer or other means and try to install junk will be stopped dead in its tracks.

2 - Other than that one other important thing is a Popup Blocker. I use Win XP and service pack 2 has one built in for IE. You could either try to get the IE7 beta for WinME if they have it or just get the google toolbar.

I only run the Norton AntiVirus stuff other than these two things. And even that is, I suspect, because I don't want to be laughed at by my other nerd friends that I fly even without an anti-virus kit. I haven't really seen it do anything useful since I changed my primary account to a "Power User" account. Don't forget the password the Administrator account for later use, tho! :)

Thanks for up'ing my rep so fast. I'm baffled. I don't know what to say. Maybe a joke: A while back I saw a post and tried to give the author some rep. Here's what I got back and still do (Don't worry I'll try to rep others in the future):

Cool, Bubba, thanx for that advice. For what it's worth I have my hard drive partitioned and all my important stuff is on my D Drive.

Don't worry about the rep stuff, it was just a way to say thank you.

I get that message too sometimes, even if it's the frist time I try to rep someone, I think it's pretty random.

I know what you mean, I always partition off two partitions. C:\ for the OS and the programs. D:\ for data. Anyhoo, been thinking of trying to record something new. No inspiration yet, tho! :) Maybe more with the blues in line of the current theme.... hmmm...... :)

Get inspired Bubba, just start jamming away and leave that recorder on! :D

And whooohoo, 5 partitions and 2 CD drives....
