Good day folks!
I've been getting my mind ready for the annual pilgrimage to The Swannanoa Gathering at the end of the month, so I've been working on acoustic music. (Swannanoa is as close to Heaven on earth as I've ever been; it's a folk arts camp that runs all summer at Warren Wilson College new Asheville NC) The best way for me to do this is with one of my fathers-in-law, Bob Hicks. He and I are working on a comedy-folk ensemble, (tentatively named Geezerband) to go out and perform "bawdy" folk songs and some serious stuff too.
(Incidentally, the difference between a "bawdy" folk song and a "dirty" folk song is that in a bawdy song; all parties are willing and happy participants in the proceedings; in a dirty folk song, well, not everyone is happy about it.)
Anyway, I've spent some time remixing and remastering a couple of recordings that Bob and I had done in the past. One is a bawdy song called Three Legged Man, it's a hoot. In addition to the rework, this past evening I added an additional guitar part and five vocal harmony parts.
The other is our arrangement of the Beatles classic In My Life. It's a lovely, tender arrangement. No new recording, just a remix/remaster shine on the old one, but boy does it sparkle now.
This will also give those of you who did not yet have the chance an opportunity to see my spiffy redesign of Llarion's Lair, my website!
To see and hear the fun, go to Llarion's Lair , Go to the Music link, then into Stupid Recording Studio Tricks; the new tunes are the first two on the page.
Drop me a note in the guestbook if you enjoyed your visit, and pass the link along to anyone you think might enjoy the songs!
