I have my CEP installed on my office computer (I have a 2 hour lunch break, and I do all my recording down here :D )
I have it packed with tons of software, and I can't have another PC just for my editing purposes.

That being said, I'm planning to buy a new RAM card.
The specs I have right now are as follows:
Intel (R)
Celeron (R) CPU 2.26Ghz
2.27Ghz, 96.0 MB RAM
DDR333

I'm doing the installation myself and I don't want to get the wrong card. So, does a 512MB/400DDR can be any good?

You can put DDR400 (PC3200) memory into a 333MHz motherboard if you want, (it will work.) However, your machine will never run that memory at 400MHz. You can save a little money if you stick with your correct speed of DDR333 (PC2700.) Although, they may be close to the same price anyway so, I guess it makes little difference.

Some folks argue that this is actually a good idea because higher rated memory is more stable (less crashing) when ran at slower speeds.

Also the amount, 512MB, is a good starting point. Your programs will likely run quicker. You could even double that to 1GB if you are able.

Good luck,
RawDepth

Thanks mate!
I guess I'm really going to feel the difference between 96 and 512MB.
My final goal is having at least 1GB, but right now my budget only allows me 512.
Cheers!

96 to 512!!!.....it'll be the best modification you'll ever do!!!

Thanks Superspit.
I'm going to wait for the X mas sale so that I get it cheaper :D
I hope I can get it for $64, right now they are selling it for $80.
What do you think about the price?

Honestly, I think you should even higher. There are MANY reasons for this... In 2 days after you get the ram, you'll notice that you'll need even more. Fact is Windows XP alone, uses minimum of 256mb to run without anything else running... 512mb in your system would make a big difference, but are you going to just move your mouse around only? I wouldn't think so, you'll probably use some RAM extensive program that'll take the rest of the RAM up, and most likely you'll feel your system slow down again. Your using a built on video card I bet, which is draining from your RAM (32mb) which is why you only have 96mb and not the full 128mb. The effects of going slow is even greater when your running a celeron anyways. So I suggest you getting at LEAST 1GB of RAM, and maybe in the future ahead you could upgrade your processor so that it can accompany the RAM. Then your video so that it doesn't tax the resources. You could go cheap on that.. $50 bucks on the video card will give you something other than built on. Maybe a 5700 or 6200 geforce card... and for the processor.... just going from the celeron 2.2ghz to a pentium 2.4 ghz you'll notice an improvement because of the cache sizes vs the 2 chips... Probably be able to get one cheap from a small computer shop that still carries them... or on Newegg... Those are my suggestions lol.

Very educational information given mate. Thank you.
1GB RAM cards run for about $160 here in my country, and right now I got so many Xmas expenses, that it would be very difficult for me to ignore.
All advice given is very logical and makes perfect sense, but for now, I'll have to settle for this little upgrade, until I get the chance to have a PC exclusively for my editing purposes.
Thanks for your input.
Cheers!

wow that's expensive. That's not in U.S currency is it... ? The most logical fix would be the 512mb since 1gb are to expensive for you.

Oh yes, it is!

Just installed my new 512mb ram card and got a great deal on a new monitor :D

OMG, I feel I'm flying

Can't imagine how 1gb would be like!!

Thanks for your input guys!
Oh, and Merry Xmas! :)
Cheers!

WOW...That is pretty expensive for Old DDR memory....I picked up 1gb of DDR 400 about a year ago for $80 Canadian on e-bay ,and places like TigerDirect have Ram deals from time to time for $19-$29 for 512mb so if there is a way to Buy from the US or Canada and ship to your country you might save some money and since Ram is small it shouldn"t be a Lot to Ship...

Just a thought since ram seems to be a Bit pricey were you are....

:)

no but yeah but no but yeah but, it's a bigger one so it goes faster.

I knew you guys were going to go  "he bought a new monitor and not a bigger ram card"

Why?

Well, a couple of days before I was going to buy the ram card, my PC's monitor crashed. So buying the monitor was a necesity.
1) Ram card: I payed from my pocket
2) Monitor: The company payed for it

There ya go :)

BTW, Minion, good tip mate!

Cheers!
