what kind of stuff do radiohead run their electric guitar thru? I would consider many of them awful sounding, but work really well in the mix. Any links or clues?

thanks, guys. I am looking for a specific sound, umm..I would describe it as broken glass sounding. Err, let me try to find an example.

ok, here is one example, in Fitter Happier @ around 0:53, there is this crazy sharp tone for like 3-4 seconds. Sounds like a clipped guitar that I find similair in some other tones they use, but this one is pretty exaggerated.

i'm almost positive that the example from fitter happier isn't originally produced by a guitar. it sounds like a piano (or synth) thats been tweaked in the studio.

BUT in order to get a sound like that? maybe a combination of overdrive, ring modulator and a slight delay, but it would take some major work.

Freeform,

I think you are right, it does sound more like a piano now. I remember holding one of a synth patch note for a long time and it started to make a nasty clipping sound that sounded somewhat like that. I'm gonna look up that patch and see if I can figure out what fx and modulation it has.

thanks, man
