Is it safe to do this? The unit seems awfully heavy to rackmount with no support underneath.....

Thanks!

Put it in the rack - it'll be fine. I've got stuff in my that's much heavier than the MP-2.

Just make sure and leave a rack space above open and a rack space below open for ventilation.

Oops, that *should* have read "it's NOW racked and ready to roll"

You could put some kind of support under the rear of the unit, like a metal brace that is connected to both sides of the rack, and that goes right under the rear end of the unit.

i got me a cheap 30 dollar rack got my MP2 racked in there no problems thus far.

There is a kit like that that comes with the Groove Tubes Vipre - which is a really huge mutha. But you don't need it for most pres that are 2 rack spaces high.

well, the unit doesn't seem to be showing any signs of warping yet, so I guess it's OK :)

Thanks all.

I've had A Designs gear in the rack for over a year. As with all the other gear in my rack it sets there with no signs of metal fatigue. I consider it a little more heavy duty than average from what I have come through for evaluation.
