I have just started building a little bedroom studio. I bought an SKB Roto Gigrig with pop up board. I Have my Tascam Portastudio sitting on the popup board and underneath I have a rackmount with my effects, tape deck, amp etc. My problem I want to rackmount a VCR for sampling VHS tapes. Thing is my VCR is not rackmountable.

I was wondering if or where you can buy rackmount brackets/ears to install on the VCR? Or do I have to buy a VCR that is rackmountable? Does that Rackmountable VCR have to have its own fitted rackmountable brackets? Thanks.

VCR? What's a VCR? Sounds like something that would sit beside the 8track. Hmmmmm

All jokes aside, you will likely have to modify the equipment you are looking to mount.

You can get a rack mount tray. Depending on the height of the vcr, you might need a 2RU or 3RU tray.

The VCR will sit thwere with a little space on either side of it. You could put a little velcro on the bottom of it to make sit in place.

Awesome thanks guys. I managed to get a hold of a 2U tray on eBay. I guess im pretty lucky cause there dont seem to be too many of them lying around. This one was in my country too. I'll stick a bit of velcro on it since its not wide enough.

When I had all my old stereo stuff, I got hold of Middle Atlantic. They had a service to get rack shelves with custom face plates for equipment. It seems they still do this. I can't remember what it cost though.

Check MiddleAtlantic.com

I also got a recommendation for Middle Atlantic. Will take note for future for sure thanks. But they seem costly. I got a hold of a guy in Australia (where I live) and he sold me a 2U tray for my VCR and a 3U tray for my tascam 112R deck for $25 each + postage. All solved. Thanks.
