Rack mounting a mixer

This is sort of a Newbie question, an initiated newbie with a very little bit of experience, but stilla newbie question. But it is a rack question.

I have one of the new Yamaha MG 16/4 mixers (and I love it BTW) and it is mounted in my rack (yeah I got a rack too, with some outboard stuff in it too, yay!) but it's mounted in the position it would be in as a desktop. Can I mount this mixer vertically, or will I cause some undo damage to the components? None of the pictures in the manual show it mounted that way, but it doesn't say anywhere that I can't.I'm thinking that it might be easier or me to turn and set the levels if I could see the face of the mixer perpendicular to my eye.
Is this a really dumb question?
 
It all depends on what you're comfortable with. Most prefer thier boards unracked, on a desk in the "missionary position":) and some prefer racked at a 45 degree angle.
It's all up to you!
 
I saw a rack mounted mixer one time on a roll out type of tray. I am not sure who makes it, but it was pretty cool. He took the wires and tie wrapped them and had them on a spring so they didnt get caught up in the shelf as it pulled out.
 
Yo Rimshot! Uncle Richie says On Stage makes a nice rack mout for a mixer on casters that does just what you want. Check The Sound Room for pictures, and get the model number, then go to 8th street or GC for a better price on the unit.-Richie
