Well, the band just got into "rackland," and I was hoping to find a good tuner/power conditioner to throw in there. I've seen various ones in the past, you know, upside-down smiley LED faces, but didn't pay attention (playing keyboards at the time).

SO, I'm looking for a GREAT tuner, hopefully with some other gizmos to minimize rack space (you know, lights, power-conditioner, cupholder, the works). But mostly just a GREAT tuner.

If you recommend an OKAY tuner I will find you and beat you over the head with it. If you recommend a GREAT tuner, then you win...

...something.

Thanks!

No problem

I have been happy with my bass player's Furman.:) It is a tuner and power conditioner. It also has a light module. It is about $200 though.;)

The tuner works well, but it is very small in comparison to the other tuners I have seen. He bought it mainly for the conditioner, and you are apparently buying one mainly for a tuner. Feel free to kill me 'till I die from it;):)

the one youve probly seen is a korg dt-1 or dt-2 theyre very similar looking, with the red and green lights in an arc. no extras, though. But its the only 'GREAT" tuner, really. all the others suck, or are too hard to read, or something else stupid. and, imho, any combo unit will scrimp on quality to save $$. you dont need a power conditioner, anyway.:)

I have a Korg DT-2 (DT-1 is similar, but with less features) - I think that's what you saw. Nice tuner, works really well, but is a bit expensive ($250+).

This is a KORG DTR-1 tuner, it seems to be the Ferrarri of tuners. It also has a couple of inputs (and a switch) for multiple guitars. It'll check cables for you, and comes with free car wash for a year.

It's also mucho buckso. Probably my next buy, though.

Couldn't find the DT-series tuners at MF, will try the KORG site, see what I can dig up. Thank you for the help, as always, very helpful!

I bought a used Sabine 1600 rack mount tuner for $56 on e-bay. Not a bad unit. If you like Sabine tuners, it does the job. Ive been keeping my eye out for a used power conditioner, the nice thing about that is just have to find one outlet to plug your rig into.

Maybe a power "conditioner" is unnecessary, but when recording direct to CDR, an uninterruptible power supply is ESSENTIAL!

OR.....

You could spend a grand on a neato strobe tuner! Everybody needs one or maybe 2! Actualy Kork makes a rack tuner with a strobe option. $270 In musicians friend I think.
