Hey,
I have a Behringer MX-2004A (Yea, I know it sucks). When I run direct outs of channels to my sound card, I cant hear those channels on my headphones. Is there any way around this?

Thanks,
Matt

Well... trrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Djing!

Congratulations! You don't have direct outs on your mixer! :D
You do have inserts, so I suppose you're using these as direct outs... No prob with that. Perfectly do-able. But you need special cables to do that.

The inserts are actually send-returns on one TRS-jack. The tip is send, the ring is return and the sleeve is ground. So what you do when you insert a mono jack is, you take the send to whatever your cable goes, and you connect the return with ground. So, nothing is returned into your channel...

So what you have to do: make a cable with mono jacks to TRS-jacks, and connect the tip and ring together on the TRS-jack.

Hope this helps.

no direct outs?? Hahaha shows how much I know about my mixer. So it looks like I'll be picking up a new mixer before I get my MOTU 1224. Hey, what do you think of the soundtracs topaz?

As I said in my previous post, you can use the inserts as direct outs. Just solder those cables... You'll need this kind of cable someday anyway... So you can get the MOTU anyway, and maybe upgade to a better mixer alteron.

I don't know that much about mixers... I have this little behringer myself as a keyboard mixer. (my headphone out is broken, by the way, grrr@@#%$!^ ) I played around with other (rather big) boards doing live mixes (mostly on a A&H GL3300) but I'm not experienced enough to judge them... They are always hooked up to different systems, different rooms etc. And never used a soundtracs anyway...
