For acoustic guitar: decent affordable beginners-ish mic yes or no? :D

IME, not bad. Actually, in that price range, I like the CAD M179 a bit better, but that is really just personal taste. Plus it has variable pattern switch. I don't do a bunch of acoustic recording, so my opinion may be worthless anyway. :)

Don't have one, but "no" - if you have just one mic for acoustic, it'd probably be an sdc over ldc.

And I'm not anti-Rode... i have an NT2 for vocals and am Australian.. just think there are better options.

Go and poke around in the mic forum and you'll find lots of options.

Cheers

I'd prefer an mxl condenser or a sterling audio condenser, but it's preference really.
