i have CEP2.1 and am wondering whether or not there is a plug-in that would allow me to toss a track into a key of my choice.

i.e.,
i am recording vocals, and am not a very good singer, but need my vocals to be in the key of C.

is there anyway i can do this with Cool Edit?

thanks.

The effect you're talking about is Autotune, CEP doesn't come with it. You need to buy it seperately.

thanks for the reply.. i was wondering if you knew where i could purchase such a thing, and how much it would cost..if there is somewhere else on this board this question is better suited for, could you point me in the right direction?
thanks.

You know, I'm really not sure about where to get Autotune...try the Mixing/Mastering board.

I'm not entirely convinced Autotune is what your looking for. If I read your post correctly, you want to sing in one key, and then change your audio file so its in the key of C. Autotune will not do that- to use it correctly, you;ve gotta sing in C, and then use autotune to pull a couple sour notes into the right space.

CoolEdit can (essentially) change the key of your vocal track. Just use the pitch shift effect, or make your track a loop and tell it how many semitones you wanna change it.

But it will sound like crap, and you'll get a chipmunk effect. Work on your voice, or change the key of your tune for better results.

Good Luck
Chris

PS- Autotune can be purchased as a plugin or a 1 unit rack effect from most major online retailers- musicians friend, zzounds, etc
