Just need to know.Got my Teac E-3 today from Ebay.I turned it on and it buzzes. Now from what I've read in previous posts,it's supposed to buzz louder/vibrate more when you put it close to a steel object.Mine just buzzes at the same rate,I dont really notice a change when I put it close to a pair of tweezers. Is this thing Kaput?.

How about if you put it near a larger piece of ferrous metal? It may not necessarily buzz louder but you should feel it pull in toward the metal object. I have a hunch you can stick by the old degausser adage: "if its buzzing, its working."

I got a han d mag for Christmas and was not prepared for the power this thing really has. Amazing. I go with sweets on this one. Buzzing= functional. I've used my brothers Teac before and it works just fine.

Very interesting!

I was drawn to this thread like a magnet!
Oh, veeeery good. Like it....;)

Thanks Guys. All I need to know.
Cheers.
When you operate it, have your recorder switched on for a second. If you see the volume bars or record level meter thing moving, it's working.

"GO ENGLAND"!!!!!!!!!!
Having just watched us draw 0-0 with Algeria, "go" is exactly what we'll be doing if we don't watch it......Straight back to Heathrow !
