Hi guys ive been reading up on alot of post in here and people seem to really know what their doing especially compared to my very small knowledge.
What I have is DEFINATLEY not even close to what I would call a home studio, me and my buddy write songs and just record them the best way we can, so we can remember them mostly =), and sneak out good enough quality for something to resemble a demo tape. So im not looking to make my computer a super music machine by any means.
The instuments wont surpas a guitar, banjo, or double bass most likley, and im fine with recording one track at a time cause space is limited. At the moment I have a beringer B2 pro mic ran through a small 4 channel phantom power mixer with RCA out to line in to my realtek sound card. my comp is XP 32 bit, athlon 64 Processor 3500+, with 1 gig of ram and my DAW is cakewalk sonar 7 pro.
I think my weakest link is my sound card and mabey my ram, clarity needs a little work, the noise is not that horrible although ever present and when I add small EQ effects or a tad reverb in sonar no sound plays and it says I dont have enough memory.
Money like in almost every venue in life is a bit of an issue, but any small to medium additions that you guys make will be highly considered. Anything from adding a new mic to out board effects, even though the post is geard to the computer. Be patient and expain things like you were talking to a 4 year old =).
