Hi, I put out some amateur stuff on garageband a while back and it was pretty well received..I ultimately want to try to release higher quality songs and get my name out in my city. Keeping that in mind, I was recommended using a Tascam 122 mk for recording into my PC ? I've also heard good things about SM 58 ? Which would be better for recording vocals ? I also want to be able to do all the recording myself, maybe through FL ? Would I be able to make tracks with the same clarity/quality as say, Pro Tools ? From lurking on here I see most people recommending against it. Thanks for your guys' time.

You are comparing apples to oranges :) The SM58 (a mic) goes into the Tascam 122 mk (an audio interface).

It's possible to make some good tracks using FL Studio, but honestly if I were you I'd just get a "big" DAW like Pro Tools/Cubase/etc. The program is such a small part of the sound quality though when compared to other things such as mics, technique, preamps, etc. that I wouldn't worry about it too much and just go with what feels comfortable.

Highly suggest you check out Reaper.
It's free to try, a license is only $60 and
it works on both Mac and PC (I use it on both)
