Questions about panning

Hi, lets say i haf recorded a guitar track and have a mono and stereo version of it. Some questions which are probably confusing:

1) If i put in 2 mono tracks, one panned to the left, one to the right, does it sound the same as a single mono track in the center? Does it sound the same as a single STEREO track in the centre?

2) If i haf 2 stereo tracks, one panned to the left and one to the right, does it sound the same as a single stereo track in the centre?

3) Does a stereo track panned to the left, sound the same as a mono track panned to the left?

4) I haf a track panned to the 100% right, and wish to adjust the panning further with an envelope. Does bringing the envelope all the way up still equals panning 100% left, and all the way down still equals 100% right?

Gosh they sound like Math questions. I know one of the answers is to listen to them myself but i need some confirmation.

1) yes - except there may be a volume increase depending on what the Panning Law of the mixer (h/w or s/w) is set to.

2) it depends on what's in each stereo signal

3) no - there is a difference between the left side and the right side in a stereo signal --- that's what makes it a stereo signal

4) i didn't understand this question at alll....!

Sorry for the confusion. Just to put things clearer:

Lets say i haf recorded a mono guitar track, and turn it into a Stereo file (so now both sides of the stereo file are exactly the same). So can you answer my questions all over again?

What is 'Panning law of mixer'? I'm using Acid 4 Software.

----------------------------------
As for Question 4:

I haf a track which i adjusted the Pan Fader to 75% right. I wish to apply a Pan Envelope at the timeline now.

By default, if the pan fader is in the center, when i shift the pan envelope all the way up, it means the track is now panned 100% left, correct? And vice versa.

So what happens now, if my pan fader is already set to 75% right.

does envelope all the way up still equals to pan left 100%,
and envelope all the way down still equals pan right 100%?

To sum it up, is the envelope affected by the pan fader?
------------------------------------

I'm asking all these to know if i should record my tracks in stero or mono. And does it even make sense to turn a mono file into a stereo one.
