we don't need rest!!
a couple of questions:

1. How are the external speaker jacks wired on some of the smaller amps, like the Vox Pathfinder for instance? Is it just a parallel jack?

2. I have a little Marshall Valvestate with no jack, but would like to use my 8ohm Leslie with it. How would you suggest wiring a jack to this amp? Would I make the amp whimper too much to wire something up in series, ...or stick to a parallel setup?
The amp is a 30 watt with a 8 ohm speaker....solid state.

Basically you replace the internal speaker with the external. You get a switched mono 1/4" jack. It will have 3 poles on it. One pole is grounded to the lug. This will get the - side of the internal speaker and the - lead going to it from the amp connected to it. The second pole will be the one that contacts the tip of the 1/4" jack. You connect that one to the + side of the amp. The third pole is the one that contacts the second pole when no jack is in. It gets connected to the internal speaker's + side.

When no external speaker is connected, then the internal one will work. When an external speaker plug is inserted, it will shut off the internal and use the external. You don't want to run the internal and the external because of impedence matching problems. If you hook it up this way, you should be able to run any 8 ohm cabs.

thanks for the answer. All sounds logical.
That said, I've looked high and low on the internet for a 1/4" jack that will suit my purposes here.

any solutions where to find one?

that was my first place to look. I'll try again, as I thought they ought to have one for sure.

thanks

DUH!! I guess I should ask you to hold my hand and ask you how to solder and drill a hole too!!

thanks so much for all you help. It's been very much appreciated (and your patience too!)

....picked up the jack today at RadioShack. Must say, they didn't know what I was looking for, and they had the open and closed circuit jacks mixed together in the same "bin" and it looked at first like they were out of the 2 conductor closed circuit jacks. (in their respective bins). I found one mixed in, rearranged their parts drawer for them, told them so, but they didn't seem too intersted. However, I'm ready to hook my 30 watter up to a V4 stack(and my Leslie) and rock the hills!!
