I was wondering how i can get my KEYBOARD to play midi files, i have the cable...and i have some midi files downloaded, and the files play on the computer...but how do i make them play through on my keyboard. I have "acid music 3.0," and Cakewalk midi studio. I know this can be done, becuase when i installed cakewalk, it tested out the midi out port, and all of a sudden the keyboard starts playin very nice sounding music, i was astonished, so i am wondering how to do it with midi files

I assume you have mapped your port propherly, then just open the MIDI file (File-->Open) and play it...
If you wan't to change/alter the sound of the instruments, just select another bank & patch in Track View :) Be more specific and maybe I can help you out :)

ps. What's your keyboard ?

I am using a yamaha psr 530, and its a midi keyboard. I used to tangle with midi a little bit, but i stopped. I just remember my keyboard sounded great when that file was being played through my keyboard. So basically i just open the midi file that i download, through cake walk, but then how do i get the keyboard to play it, instead of the computer playing it

so basically, now that i've read your question again, i just want to know how to get my keyboard to play (by itself) the song

Well, if you've connected the MIDI output from the computer to the MIDI in of the keyboard all you should need to do is choose the computer's MIDI out on the tracks playing the file. It will be set to the microsoft MIDI mapper by default so you need to get the info going out the MIDI cable instead. In cakewalk I believe you just double click on the track and enter the MIDI channel ect. Just choose channel 1 since your keyboard is set to that by default and find the soundcard's physical output in teh choices.

I haven't used Cake in a while. Maybe someone in the cakewwalk forum would be more specific.

Thanks for your help, it works great!

one question though, how can i get my keyboard or the midi ..from having the piano sound really "slurry" or like having it pitch blended
