Hey guys! Have a quick question:

Is there any way to trigger the built in drum sounds in my Sonar 4 Producer addition using a trigger drum pad to record "live" drums while laying down my song? If there is, assume I know nothing about electronic drums, and please explain.

I appreciate it!

Do you know anything about MIDI?

Also, do your if your drum pads have MIDI out?

Also, what sort of sound card do you have?

My drum pads do have MIDI out. So far I only have 3 of them. My sound card is a M-Audio Fastrack, but will be getting a Tascam 428 in about a week.

Do-able?

Does the Drum have some kind of brain module?

Basically what you need to do is to assign each 'pad' a MIDI note (it might already been assigned). Plug the MIDI Out of the Drum module into the Sound card and set a track in Sonar to MIDI In channel 10 (again check the Drum module instructions for this, it's pretty much standard that all Drums are on channel 10).

On that track you will need to set the output to some sort of DXI synth so that you can hear the output.

See how you go,

Daniel
