hey everyone, iam new to this site, and i need help on deciding what i need.

i am basically just recording myself on guitar and bass, and currently using midi for drums, although my brother is a drummer.... :(

i plan on recording

guitar - effects - amp - microphone - preamp - good soundcard - cakewalk

for the guitar, i already have a godin lg signature, for effects i have a zoom 606, but iam looking at the electro-harmonix graphic fuzz, or the lbp 2ube (becasue analog is better i guess....go tubes!), for an amp i have the crate gx-212, for a microphone i have the shitty shure pg48, ( i need a new one, looking at the shure sm57, check it out here

for a preamp iam looking for different solutions, iam not sure what i need.

iam going to get either the art tube mp (the original), or the behringer ub 502

the art tube has tube analog good quality, and i was referred to by a really good musician, but the behringer has equing possibilitys........ which i dont know if i need or not, if iam just recording with one mic at a time, so iam not sure...i need help...

for a a soundcard to increase the quality of my recordings, iam looking at the m-audio delta 44.

any help would be greatly appreciated,

thanks alot, ginner.

Im not sure I am the best person to ask around here for advice since Im relatively new to this field, but I have been reading alot of resources on recording. I've that the Audio Buddy preamps are the biggest bang for the buck and also I've never heard anyone say anything bad about the delta44. Im thinking of buying one myself, but am unsure if I want 4 or 8 channels. The shure sm57 is considered the desert island mic. If you could choose one and only one mic sm57 is the one to choose. Hope I could help.

I think chessrock, among others, feels the Tube MP is an excellent Bass DI, so that would be in its favor.
