Ok, so I live in military base housing. So screwing, bolting, and modifying anything is pretty much out. I'm thinking of building some GOBOs to try to set up my garage to be a decent live room AND controll room. I know that having them mixed is not ideal. However, in my housing situation as well as the fact that I do everything myself, it's about all I can do. I've been reading articles posted on here about room treatment and I understand the basics. I just wanted to know if anyone out there has done anything like this or if anyone has any advice. Thanks in advance guys!

I rent, so I'm in the same boat. I made my panels without frames, just wrapped the OC 703 in fabric kinda like a Christmas present, tacking the fabric with hot glue. The panels are light enought that I can put them up with push pins.

Here's a slideshow.

And there's nothing wrong with one big room that's used for both live and control. It's usually better to do that than to divide the space.

And you gotta read this: http://www.ethanwiner.com/acoustics.html

I agree with APL, tracking and mixing in the same room is commonplace. I remember seeing a post of his panels a long time ago and that gave me the basic idea of how I was going to do mine.

Aside from room treatment, you'll have room noise to deal with, like your computer, HVAC, etc. Gobo's can help, but you should look at isolation boxes for your computer and such.

have fun.

THanks guys. Yeah I read most of Ethan's stuff on acoustics and it got me started thinking. So I guess when I get home and get ready, I'll just move forward with gobos and such. PC's aren't an issue since i record analog. So, cool. Thanks again guys.
