Howyadoin,

I was doing some tracking tests and noticed that when running Sound Forge 6, recording would peg the CPU at 100% usage, regardless of bit depth, sampling rate or presence of a signal. This is what I'm used to seeing from both my old DAW and the new one. I'm monitoring temperatures to make sure my overclock isn't pushing the system too hard. Plus, the case in a rack now, so I wanted to check out the airflow situation.

But anyhoo...

When I booted Cubase SX, I was having a severe latency problem, so I changed the VST driver to Delta 1010 ASIO. This fixed the latency problem very well.

I then tried recording 8 tracks simultaneously, and started watching the CPU temp, which was barely above idle temp. I thought this was odd, so I looked in XP Task manager, and saw CPU usage around 8-15%. The inputs were just plugged into the tape outs of the Alesis Studio 24 mixer, so there was no signal to speak of, but I'm used to seeing Cubase peg the CPU just like SF...

Is the new Delta driver improved? I didn't check which driver SF was using, BTW.

Just curious, I guess...

Rock on,

-Mark P.
