IMO, the Ampeg B100R is the best sounding 100-watt transistor Bass combo amp on the market that I've heard (and I've played a lot of them... SWR, Fender, GK, Trace Elliot, Peavey etc)... but the B100R is about $500. On the other hand... the Behringer BX600 isn't a bad sounding little 60-watter... and is only about $170. I've read some people have had problems with the Behringer BX1200... and IMO, the Rogue RB120 sucks.

I got one of these for my wife and I was suprised by how good it sounds and loudness. It actually sounds better than my son's Workingman's 12.

I reckon the BX1200 is about as good as it gets for the money. I bought one about 15 months ago for jam sessions that I organize down the local pub, everone tries to nail the sucker but it has resisted all attempts.

I did FOH for a band from Bath UK the other week and the bass player had one. He was connected thru a Zoom Bass stompbox and the sounds he was getting out of the thing was amazing.Made it easy for me as well because it has its own XLR DI output.

Be careful about the aluminium coned speaker though as it has a typical harder tone, try before you buy.

well thanks for the feedback so far.. i was a little sketchy on the Rogue and Behringer ones and i guess i still am.. but what if i upped my spending to like 375 or so.. would that get me anything better in the 100/120 watt range?

Yeah, I think so too.

You may want to keep an eye on ebay and etc for a good secondhand (used) bass amp... also, checkout that little Behringer BX600 ($160 new), it might be just what you're looking for... it's a loud 60-watter.

yeah i think im going to go to Guitar Center and see what they have there and test out what they got.. ill be looking for those Behringer Models and such.... thanks for the help

I would save up the extra money and get the Ampeg B100R...I don't think you could go wrong with it, especially for the money. Alternately, you could try to pick something up on the used market. I found an Ampeg B2R head and SVT 410 cab for $500 total once, and each item alone retails for more than that.
