I have a D1600 that I really like a lot. I was looking at this:

http://korg.com/gear/info.asp?a_prod_no=TP2&category_id=3

as an upgrade of the front end. You can't bypass the Korg pres without a digital in and they seem to be targeting this at people who own Korg's recorders.

Is it really tube driven(tube) or are these just fancy light bulbs (toob)?

Thanks,

Chuck

I'm going to take a really wild guess here and say it's tooob. With three o's.

LOL...I have to admit I had my hopes up

For $600 street price you would think they wouldn't resort to gimmicks. Just make it a decent solid state pre with compressor and digital out and I think they would have done fine. Oh well.

It looks gimmicky, but it still might be an upgrade for the D1600 front end.

You'd probaby be better off putting together a front end out of seperate components, i.e. individual stereo preamp, compressor, and converter boxes. Of course, that will cost more money too! :-)
