I have hooked everything to my Mackie MS1202
3 keyboards, tuner tape, CD and out put of my sound card.
Now that im starting to do Audio recording Ive hooked the output
of my mixer into the sound cards input. But now there is an audio loop occuring. When recording track one everything is fine. When recording any more tracks track one plays through the mixer and bleeds onto any subsiquent tracks. Whats the best way to avoid this audio loop without having another PA or amp.

Thanks
James

The first track is bleeding to the second because it is coming back from the computer to the mixer and getting sent back in via the mixer outs. I would suggest instead of connecting the main mixer outs to the sound card ins, connect the bus 3/4 outs to the sound card ins. this way, you can monitor from your mixers headphone or main outs...and when you want to send something to the sound card (record it) then you just push the "mute" button to send it to the 3/4 outs.

The only channels that will go to the computer to be recorded will be the ones that you have pressed "mute" for. (mute not only mutes but also routes the channel to bus 3/4...if you already knew that, then nevermind. Just makin sure)

you could get the same effect by connecting your mixers sends to the sound card inputs. The only difference would be to send the channels that you want to record you would simply turn up the send knob on that channel instead of hitting mute.

hope that helps...

Mixer Loop problems

The original Mackie MS1202 doesnt have aux 3 & 4 outs like the newer ones. Im using one of the aux send for a microverb now.
Wouldnt I need both aux sends to send a stereo signal to the sound card?

Thanks James

Then use the channel inserts to send two channels directly to the soundcard. Download a manual from www.mackie.com if you don't have one. They have great hook up diagrams for different situations.
