Question for Firepod Owners ?

Hey guys! I just purchased a firepod and I'm getting radio frequencies when I use the headphones (sony) for monitoring. It translates to the recording too :/. Could it be because of the cheap microphone cable? What might cause this and do you ever have the same problem ?

Does this problem go away when you don't have the headphones plugged in!?!

My gut says to try a different microphone and a different cable. That's definitely not something I'd expect from any piece of gear.... If that doesn't help, the next thing I'd check is your building ground....

I have a firepod too, I can definetly pick up the wireless from my laptop -- so I turn it off. Wireless is in the UHF range, but radio is quite a bit lower, so they may not be the same issue. My guess other guess would be to try a different microphone. Hope this helps.

i am guessing that your mic cable is not balanced, hence it is a big attena and you get radio

It was the cable. I got 2 free whirlwind cables for free with my RNC from Humbucker music and I was using those. I then switched to a different mic cable I had lying around and boom, the problem was gone I guess its time to get some more cables! Thanks for the help!

i recall posts on this subject.

there's some slight difference I had never been aware of but it makes sense as not all cables are created for the same application.

Instrument cables have a braided shield to eliminate noise and have light-guage conductors because of very small current.

Speakers cables should not be shielded, and need much thicker conductors to allow for larger current flow.

someone posted the above statement and it seems simple enough for me to digest.

maybe not be your problem...?
