Your Tascam unit does not have channel inserts. Your only two options are:
While you are recording, you could run your microphone to an external microphone preamplier with the preamplifier's output running to the compressor, the compressor's output running to the input of the recording machine. This will mean though that you will be running the microphone through TWO preamps, which has the possibility of adding a lot of noise. But hey! You are reccording to cassette. What's a little more noise!!!!
The other way would be use a Direct Track Output to the input of the compressor and the output of the compressor back into a channel on the mixer. This would probably be the best way to do it.
