Greetings,
As a n00bie studio engineer, I wanted to get some feedback on the setup that I am using for my home/portable studio. I am looking to complete a decent studio with all the bells and whistles that I will need in order to produce a great product (for myself and others). I am in particular looking for an additional or replacement for what I currently have as a sound card.
Here are some details: Layla 20 bit (would like to replace with 24 or add a 24 with the 20 chained for drums only) and a Mackie CR1604-VLZ for live recording and playback without latency issues. I have a self built computer (it's the bomb diggity) that can handle pretty much anything thrown at it. I'm using Cakewalk HS 2004 XL with only a couple of plugins and Sound Forge for Mastering.
Any insight on how I can make this better?
thanks!
