Question about using copyrighted material in my own works

A friend and me have been using old albums we find in thrift stores and recording our own stories while adding bits and pieces of different parts of albums we find (sometimes parts of music, sometimes parts of dialogue, along with our own words and music).
I was wondering if it would be illegal for us to give these cd's of stories away for free.
For example, we adverise on our website that we are selling our own cd, and then state that we will also give you a free cd with these stories we make up along with your purchase.
Our problem is that most of these albums (vinyl) are really old and it would be impossible to contact who did them to get permission. Plus, in some of the stories, we use a lot of samples from many albums.
Any thoughts on the subject would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Reproducing copyrighted material in any form without permission, as I understand it, is a copyright violation. Regardless of profit. Whether the copyright holders will chase you down is another story. I would guess probably not.
