Would the pair of MSHO mics be good for over heads on a drumset? And would the MSH-1 do for micing a snare?

And are there any MSH mics for a bass drum?

Thanks~!

I've used a pair of the MSH-10s as room mics, and they worked quite well. In fact, I think that's my drum clip that's on Naiant's eBay store. IMO, they'd work well as a spaced pair since they are omnis.

The SPL's from a snare are probably too much for the capsule to handle, though. Are you talking about the 1C? Hmmm, maybe they could. I'm sure mshilarious will chime in at some point since they're his babies.

The 1Cs can handle toms, in fact I voiced the mics pretty much for toms. I tried it on snare too, it didn't distort, but I didn't like the sound very much. The 1O actually sounded better there . . . but I wouldn't run out and grab a 1O first thing for snare.

I'll have to try the 1C on kick, if you put it inside the hole I'd expect it would need the windscreen. My kick doesn't have a hole, so I can't try that myself . . .

Edit: OK tried out kick. 1O is a definite no, it distorts. 1C worked OK for me (note: I'm no drummer, but I tried to hit hard :o ). I also tried my B52. The B52 was all thump (40-50Hz) with just a bit of click at 4kHz. The 1C has some thump, but extends the response up a bit (80 Hz, 160Hz), and also features a peak about two octaves lower (1kHz) than the click, and a small peak around 3.2kHz, just below the click. I think it's an interesting, complex tone, but probably not the right choice for metal-style kick.

Ok, thanks, so, The MSHO's would be good for overheads, but not so great for snare? And would you say that the B52 would be good for some heavier rock drums?

The B52 is pretty much a standard for rock drums, yeah. But some people like the D112 too, and there are some other favorites. Do a search 'cause there are lots of threads about kick mics.

Alright thanks a bunch.

Oh, and how would I go about ordering your mics?

EDIT: QUESTION WAS ANSWERED ON YOUR SITE. YOU CHANGED IT SINCE LAST TIME I LOOKED!

since this topic is here, and people are already asking about your stuff, what would be the cost to buy one of those stereo bars by itself?

Those are on backorder and I'm not sure when I will get more :(

Awesome, thanks a bunch, I will probably be ordering sometime soon!

mshilarious,

Sorry to keep bugging you, but...

Do you like the sound of the MSH-1C's on toms "better" than, say, an SM57?

Is the slp rating high enough for a heavy player?

I'm thinking of getting about 6 or so of these for drums (my drummer has a large drum kit), but I really want to make a step up from the 57's that I'm now using. I'd like a fuller, but more open sound to the toms.

I trust your opinion, thanks.

I PM'ed Lucio, but for the general public, I haven't got any feedback from 1C buyers yet, so for the impartial comparative point of view, I'm afraid y'all will have to wait. I know one board member bought a few with the intent of using them on toms, so hopefully there will be some reaction soon.

I'm interested in the cardiods for my rack toms (currently using 57s) but I'm all G.A.S.sed out right now. And the MSH-4 was the last piece of gear I bought!! :D

Oh, wait a minute. Is that special for previous customers still happening, and does it apply if I bought through your eBay store? Maybe I can splurge!

I don't really do much with the eBay store anymore, their August fee increase motivated me to move my business to my own site.

That's not what I meant, doofus!!!!! What I meant is I am a previous customer via the eBay store.

The main question is - is the special still happening?

I gotta work on my question asking skills.......
