I read in Sound on Sound that the Quadmic pres in the Fireface sounded a lot like the Mackie VLZ pres, at least from the perspective of the guy who wrote the article. Is this true?
I was thinking of getting a single Grace 101 pre...since I want a step up from my Spirit M8 pres.
But I could also get a Tampa channel strip which also comes with a compressor, which I don't have.
Would you recommend that I get the Grace 101 (won't have any money for a compressor)?
Or should I get the Tampa?
Or should I get another unit or a combo of units for about the same amount of money?
I have searched the boards for a long time, but haven't found exactly what I was looking for. Thanks.
