Recently recieved this unit off eBay. Everything seems to be working, but just want to double check. Maybe I'm just being paranoid, but...

When I tested out my mics, the volume doesn't seem to be high enough until I turn the gain almost to max. Is this normal?

Im listening to it through the headphone jack. Both the master volume and headphone volume are up high. it just seems like a big jump of volume from the mic input gauge from 90% and up. Everything else below that is fairly quiet.

This is my first audio interface and experience with home recording. There's the option for phantom power, but not sure what that is.

Main reason for asking is that the unit was sold as having heavy use. That's mainly seen in the rack wear.

Thanks!

Is your mic padded? I have a 2626 and using a lot of gain to is normal

I tested it out with the shure dmk 57/52 kit. Not sure if the internals are padded?

It seems to be the same for both types of mics.

So using a lot of gain is normal? That sounds good then.

I guess, ultimately, this should be my question. Can an audio interface lose some of its power over time?

Or is it all or nothing?
