Hi, long time listener... first time caller.
I had a question about mixing in ProTools. I have never done any mixing before and would like to learn how. I have been doing some recordings in my bedroom using the Mbox and ProTools.

Is there a website that can point me in the right direction? Or is there a step by step that people do... I want the songs to be brought to life and breathe like they should.

Remeber, I have the basic ProTools, without all the fancy plug-ins. Can this still be done?

Well if I missed anything please let me know.. and if anyone can shed some light, it would be greatly appreciated. thanks

I recommend reading a few books like "The Mixing Engineer's Handbook" by Bobby Owsinski and whatever the purple covered Protools mixing manual is called. You should be able to find it on amazon. I, however, am too lazy to do a search for you right now.

Give me a few.

Trial & error is a good thing to try as well.

The Musician's Guide to Pro Tools by John Keane, John Keane (Paperback)

It's not the one I was thinking of but this is a good resource as well.

Read some of the ideal tutorials buried on the digidesign webzine, that you can never seem to find...

Digidesigns Digizine

Some nice tutorials there including using aux tracks, and busses... as well as some techniques to get some good end results... Not enough articles tho... shame...

Enjoy

Thanks so much invisiblenemies and Theros. I think I will go out and get the Mixing Engineer's Handbook. It had some great reviews on Amazon. This will definitely point me in the right direction.

Cheers!!

ya "The Mixing Engineer's Handbook" by Bobby Owsinski is great...there is another really good book i recomend that got me thru school which was called "Encyclopedia of Recording" by Rick Clark...Lots of really good interviews...If recording is somthing you want to step into this is a good starter as well as the MEH....
