Question about Guild?

I think Guild dreadnoughts are very nice guitars, especially the older ones. Seems like a reasonable price to me. The best way to decide is to go play it. I wouldn't pay $900 if it has any problems other than a few dents and dings.

According to Vintage Mag. there is a Guild Bluegrass Jubilee D-40 C. They did not make them until 1975 if that's the model you are talking about.
1975-1979 have a price range of $825-$950.

I have a chance to buy a '72 Guild D-40 for $900, is it worth it?
That's quite high for a '72 D-40, but it sounds like you may have something else.
Is that a great guitar or just average?
Just average. It's sort of bottom of the line Guild.

I actually have a near-mint '72 D-40. It's adequate, nothing to write home about. It's certainly lightyears ahead of the horrible, horrible self-destructing Gibson acoustics that were being made at that time with all sorts of bizarre cost-cutting experiments by Norlin.

Hye guys,
Thanks for the help. I actually found out threw a serial Number check that it is a '79. What do you think? I found the same model without a cutaway for $600. Should I put down about that much or save my money and go for a new Gibson Songwriter?
