Hey, guys. I was messing around with the Groove Quantize in Sonar 2.0. I tried all the GQ files that ship with Sonar, and it was pretty cool. The question is, where do I get more? Can I pull this stuff off of a WAV file? I know you select a clip you want to use as your 'model', then copy it to the clipboard. Then when you highlight the part (MIDI only, I think), and select GQ, you should have 'Clipboard' as an option. However, when I tried to get the quantization from a WAV, it didn't show up in the GQ drop-down menu. Can I get this from WAV files? Surely it can't be just MIDI, cuz that's what you're tryin to inject some groove into. Any takers, here? I would appreciate any help. Thanks

groove quantize is a midi thing.

you can't groove quantize a wave sound.

but you can extract timing from a wave sound, and use the timing to groove quantize a midi track.

for instance, if you have an analog bass track that you want to augment with a midi bass synth, you can extract the timing from the bass track, so you know where to lay the synth track notes.

thanks.I still need to mess around a bit more, but that does help. I appreciate it.

Groove quantize from WAV file...? Hmmm... interesting...
why don't you try this...

1. Click here... to look for freeware / Shareware Wav to MIDI converter prog's...

2. I don't know which is the best and most accurate, but trial don't kill...

3. Once you have the MIDI'ed format of the wave file, use it as the groove source...

4. Honestly, I haven't tried this before, so just tell us the result...

;)
