Ok I gotta friend who has a motif ES8, I believe is the model, and Im just gettin into production. I kno that board has a lot of stock sounds that I might be able to use, but my question is is there a way for me to get the sounds from that board via CD or even a portable harddrive in a way that would be usable on my software setup?

Why do you need to get them off of the board? Why cant you just use the keyboard itself? Isn’t it better to record them that way instead of resampleing them?

my friend lives no where near me......... so i dont have access to it enough to use and learn it that well plus im just starting out and im going the software route for now (cause its cheaper) so im looking for as many sounds as i can get

It aint gonna sound as good either, ya better off just looking for some sample c.ds on ebay...

You can SYNC the Motif to your computer.

Make the computer your MASTER device and the Motif your SLAVE device.

I am sure that there are a few people in/on this forum that can help walk you through this. :)

Since you have the Motif, you are going to have to learn how to use it, eventually.

Im going to look into that cause Im goin to get one soon I just dont want to spend $2,000 on a board when im just starting to make beats...... that will come latter down the road

At least you're not going gear happy off the jump. That usually leads to frequent pawn shop visits LOL.

Pawn shops love musicians in the beginning stages, welfare mothers, and crackheads. Gotta keep inventory flowing steady.

The answer, in case you were confused form the above, is no.

You CAN, however, sample the motif's sounds, if ou have a LOT of time and expertise.

And, as was mentioned, there MAY be sample libraries already published that feature motif sounds. You'll need to be a software rompler and the CDs. I have found that they're rarely as satisfying at the board itself.

Imagine trying to to sample every possible sound you can generate (not just presets) - Forget about sleep for a while... :D

^Im a college student so i rarelly sleep anyway.........

but thankx for the info....... i just got the idea that maybe I could sample that boards sounds.... looks like ill be sticking to cd's, songs, and some other means of getting sounds
