Question about Ernie Ball volume pedal

Not sure this is the right place to post this so move it if need-be. I have an Ernie Ball pedal that has a strange "problem." Anyone who owns one of these knows it has a huge range of motion. However with mine, there isn't much change in volume until you push it nearly to the top. It's kind of like that huge range is wasted. Is this normal? Anyone know how to tweak one of these? They don't look that complicated but I'm not really wanting to tear it apart if I don't have to.
 
Volume Pedal
The potentiometer has a 250k ohm resistance suitable for the audio path of passive instruments. Behind the jack area under the footplate is a taper switch, which provides the user two distinct volume swell rates. A tuner output is provided and allows silent tuning when the pedal is in the heel down position.
 
Wow, I feel kind of stupid not even knowing that switch was there. I flipped the switch and viola...works much better now. Thanks a bunch!
