question about dvd audio (ac3 encodeing)

maby this isn't the best place for this question but.....

i'm playing with dvd authoriseing and when i compress audio useing a-pack
(an ac3 encoder) it comes out sounding like i used shitty mix compression on it.........

but i did not, any one know the deal???

(short of mixing to about -2db)

Well, all dolby and dolby licensed ac3 encoders are going to degrade your audio in one way or another no matter what you do, it is indeed a lossy format :mad: . My only suggestion would be to use a calculator and use the highest kbps tranfer rate you can during encoding.

I had some fun with encoding ac3's and making suround mixes before. It was pretty good times.
