hey guys i am going to buy the DELTA 1010 soon but while checking some reviews i found one Where somebody complained that this card is bad because it makes some cracks and stuff ..the review is on www.zzounds.com/a--2676837 I was wondering if its true? and AM I doing the right thing buying it?I am gonna use it for TECHNO/TRANCE music...

the 1010 is an awesome card.....

any cracks and pops would be traced to irq issues, hard drive issues, etc and can happen with any card......

you are doing the right thing.....

From what I've heard, don't get a computer with a VIA chipset and an AMD processor if you're going to get the 1010. Something about certain VIA chipsets that doesn't work witht the AMD and the 1010, and causes crackles and pops in the audio.

You might want to post this at www.prorec.com , a lot of those guys have 1010's, and they've discussed this issue SEVERAL times.

Best of luck to you,

Darth

Although, I do think the VIA KT133A chipset works...

Dammit, can you post more info on this 1010 issues with AMD/VIA chipsets?

I just bought a new system with AMD/VIA installed and was getting ready to get a 1010.

There were some problems with the Via, a long time ago, people just dont let go of it. With the most current via drivers, there are no problems. Dont worry about it. I havent had a bit of trouble, and I have a 1010

I also have a 1010 running smoothly with the AMD XP1800 and a VIA kt266A based board.

If you're really concerned, try to contact MAudio and ask them about your specific motherboard.

Delta 1010

Here's my 2cents worth - and another plea for help if anyone can!

I have had a 1010 for several years now in a machine with an Abit board and Celeron chip (now1100), alongside a turtle beach Pinnacle card (for the sampler and DB50XG).

It usually works fine for normal recording - forget using it with stand alone soft-synths (large latency and poor emulated directX)or multi-client use - poor drivers.
The only stable drivers are the .27 - non multi-client drivers - the others crack up if you are using Sonic Foundry programs.

However it developed a 'motor-boating' sound for the first few minutes of starting the PC, which although is fine after a few minutes - was annoying. Midiman support just send me Std answers citing setup and IRQ resolution methods - but nothing of any use - such as _ 'yes we have seen the fault before and this is how you get an exchange board' or whatever...

I thought I'd shift the 1010 to IRQ 10 which they recommend. Unfortunately after a lot of shunting components around on the IRQs, no improvement was found - and the 1010 now distorts on playing... I've tried putting everything back as it was, (IRQ11), and reinstalling the drivers from scratch, but it still distorts on playing anything...

Any ideas anyone?
Thanks!
