Question about battery module for live recording.

I use a portable mini-disk recorder, and stereo biaural microphones for live recording. I was wondering if it is truly necessary to have a battery module for live recording in a place like a small club.

Will it really affect my microphones capabilities that greatly? Do I really need to plunk down the 80 dollars for it?

Yes. I can't really explain why, it's like plugging a passive pickup into an amp expecting actives (bass, ie). If the mic needs power, power it.

Besides, $80 isn't going to break you and you've already spent THAT much...
