"Heard this from another source...
Quantegy Recording Solutions LLC, a manufacturer of various professional magnetic tape and other recording media products located in Opelika, Alabama, announced on January 18th that it would cease manufacturing and selling most of its product lines on April 30, 2007.
Products to be discontinued include all of its professional audio and video products. It blames changing demands in the fast-moving recording media field as the main reason for this decision. In the announcement, Mr. Frank Foster, Quantegy’s CEO, notes that, "Today, the same technological forces that brought us magnetic tape have in turn brought us new technologies that have supplanted many of the markets Quantegy Recording Solutions once served. The net result of this technology shift is the decline in demand for magnetic tape in these professional markets." He continued, "We believe the best way to honor Quantegy’s tradition and history is to produce the highest quality magnetic tape products today while bringing you new solutions for tomorrow. On this note, the company has begun to leverage its
knowledge of the markets it serves to bring its customers new products to build a platform for the future." Mr. Foster’s announcement gave no indication of what those future products might be."
