Boring Old Git
I thought some of the more technical members of the forum might enjoy this...
Since I retired and lost access to the test gear I used to "borrow", I've missed being able to do proper analysis of the gear I have at home. However, a friend still working just sent me a link to THIS.
I've been playing with it today and it does quite a good job, with a major caveat: to do anything other than just loop from the in to the out of your sound card, you have to have something known to be a good quality signal for comparison. Fortunately, most specialist sound cards are good enough to be going on with.
The instructions are a separate download file--since the software isn't 100% intuitive, it's worth grabbing this too.
As a first test, I put the inbuilt sound card on my lap top through the ringer--it's as bad as I though and actually worse than expected in terms of frequency response which is miles from flat.
Have fun!
