Hi,

I am trying to control the Controllers A-D on the QS7 through Sysex messages in Cakewalk. I have checked through the 'QS Series MIDI Sysex Spec' and I cant find a way.

Any thoughts on this?

Thanks,

Sunil

The default sends for A, B, C, and D are controller 012, 013, 091, and 093 respectively.

I don't think you can control these guys externally, but I think you can mimic what they accomplish internally by sending the controller values.

And, since they're controller codes, they're not sysex.

Does that work for you?

Hi,

Thanks for the response. I have tried using the controllers but it didnt work as I would've expected it to.

This is what I am trying to do:

I am using QS7 in mix mode. My program Change is set to ON, FX is set to PROG and FX Chan is set to Channel 1. I assigned User:BreathySax to Channel 1. Ctrl A controls the amount of Breath and Ctrl B controls the delay parameter.

Pressing record on my sequencer (Cakewalk), I first adjusted the Ctrl A&B to the required levels and recorded the notes and controller info. I left the Ctrl A&B positions in the new (adjusted) position. Now I play back from the sequencer and everything sounds as I expected it to with the effects.

Now I set the controllers A&B to 0 on the keyboard and play back from the sequencer and this time the effects are not active even though the controller messages are sent by the sequencer. What am I doing in-correctly?

Thanks,

Sunil

Found the problem!!

I looked at the global settings for the controller assignments A-D. They were zero. Changed them to 12, 13, 91 and 93. After that, I was able to control them using the controllers from the sequencer!!

Cool. Now I'll know what to check if I ever decide to do that.

Daf (thinking the QS makes a better controller than controllee anyhow)
