Q: Latency

good day to all, this is my first post and i just want to ask if latency matters on the microphone that you use. Because i am using a cheap mic and it is plug in the the audio jack of my PC. When i adjusted the latency for recording in small value, the monitor in mixcraft has no delay when i recorded at first, but in the long run there will be a delay... what would be the problem? is it my pc or my mic? or the software? i have ASIO v2. pls help thanks!
 
Latency is caused but the computer / sound interface (sound card). Plus the software.

It is never caused by the microphone.

What you may want to try is turning all background apps off and disconnect from the internet.

I would also scan the drive and defrag as well not sure if it will help but it is worth a try.

Also what is the sound card you are using. ?? and software ??
 
ok thanks for the advise!!... i'll try to do it... my sound card is realtek HD... i am wating for my samson c01u, and i am confused if i still get this monitor delay...

If the Sound card is built in try to see if you can borrow a USB or Firewire audio interface ( may need a firewire card) and try that some of the built in ones can cause issues. Or check to see if there are updated drivers as well.

But remember to turn off the built in one through the BIOS settings for the mother board. If your running a external interface (not really needed but if not in use why have it active) also go to sound settings in control panel and shut down all window sounds nothing like mixing and a odd windows noise shows up :p
 
ah i see... firewire is so expensive... :(

nah i'll just stick to my built in sound card... and the great thing is my sound card driver has no updates! :mad:

uhm, what software do u use in recording? does it has monitor like mixcraft?
