Q: Copyrighting Collection Of Songs?

Hi everyone,

Well it's been a long time coming, so i decided to finally register my songs (60 to be exact). I went to the copyright website and got some side info about copyrighting multiple songs. In the copyright website i read that now u can use Form CO to copyright pretty much anything, in this case lyrics. Well in the same page also says "Note: Form CO cannot be used for group registrations". So my questions are: what do they mean by group registrations?, are they talking about group as a band name? and If that doesnt apply to me, can i still use the CO Form to copyright my songs as a "Collection"?.

I don't know exactly what they mean by Group registration, but everything I saw on the copyright website refers to periodicals. I'm thinking it doesn't pertain to your lyrics.

You can register as a collection using the online form, CO. Just give your collection a title like; Baby Recordz' songs from Sep 2009 - Sep 2010. Then you can list the title of each song in the collection if you choose.
