How should I put up my rigid fiberglass? Is one side suppose to face the wall? What's the difference between each side?

generally you want the unfoiled side to face out. You can have the foil side facing out, but that will reflect some high frequencys and some mids.

The unfoiled side is the side which is less rough, or is softer, and it goes toward the inside of the room?

You'd know if one was was foil covered. It'd be real obvious.
Is one side of your *textured* and the other smooth? The rigid we bought and installed was made by a company named Certainteed. It did not have foil on one side or the other but it did have one side that was textured with a bunch of tiny circles laid wile the other was smooooooth. Since we were fabric covering our fiberglass, we put the smooth side out so the texture didn't show.

I thought I would ask this question in here rather than start another thread. For the time being, I am forced to move my recording gear out of my house and into the space where my band practices--a storage shed. The room is 10' x 20'. The walls are drywall and the ceiling and door are metal. Needless to say, the acoustics blow. But I want to keep working on my recording skills. I want to get some acoustic treatment. I was thinking of starting by making bass traps made of Owens Corning 705 to put in the four corners and making 2 acoustic panels of 703 to put on the wall behing where my desk is. What do you think? Would this be a good way to start? Or is it useless to try and acoustically treat a shed?

if the batts are unfaced, in other words both sides are just fiberglass, then there is no significant differences between one way and another. You will be no doubt wanting to wrap them in fabric anyway.
