I have a Fostex MKII 8 track which I'm trying to build a digital studion around. What I would like to do is eventually connect it to my computer and complete my mastering from there using pro-tools, or cubase. Is this possible? I'm new to doing my own recording.

Go to the Fostexusa site and download the WAVManager for the Mk II. This is a utility software program that will import .wav files from the MkII and also export files to the Mk II. (Also download the .pfd instruction manual at the same time) See Data Export to Personal Computer Chapter pp115.
The connection to the computer is via the USB port.
Once the files are in your computer, you can process them using any sound editor that accepts .wav files.
