Well I had no clue where to post this, but... God's out to get me this week. The ugly little room where I record has a bunch of pipes covered with insulation and duct tape, which are iron steam pipes feeding old fashioned radiators from an oil burner. The main ruptured, draining a bunch of water into the insulation, which is not-so-good old fashioned asbestos. Fortunately, I know something about asbestos abatement(respitators, etc., and it's better wet, it decreases breathing dust.
Well, it blasted the seat of the control station pretty good, but missed the gear (Hola!). Five hours in a respirator and $2500 bucks worth of good steam fitting later, I have heat, and will reassemble the studio soon. I've got to use some fiberglass sections , especially holes in walls pipes pass through, which I have to pack. The more complex set of joints is right over the control station. Thes pipes actually have a pleasing, very slight "iron" resonance to them. It's the sound-"Basement band with a clue".-Richie
