I asked earlier if we are alowed to post our mixes here for feedback from external servers and the Admin said it was ok.

Hi @everybody!

This is my first post on this forum, maybe doing wrong...

I really enjoyed these high quality stems, and i appreciated the honor that Ben's mix was our reference.
It was so good already that I did not feel the need to reinvent the wheel.
I figured that the producer's vision was nearly in the stems, so i tried to mix as simple as possible.

Here is my soundcloud link, i hope you could listen, enjoy, say something cool, or not cool but true, whatever. :)

Hello everyone!

It's a well produced and yet a great song. It sure stands out from every other silly pop track. It has musicality, great structure and great vibe. I totally like it!
The things I did not like in the original mix (I want to point out that this is just MY opinion, no offence) is that it's a little bit harsh, at least to my ears. The prechorus, chorus and backing vocals have a fairly high (frequency-wise) low cut that makes them sound smaller than they are. Sounds like the vocals have been recorded really close to the mic. There is a lot of de-essing which sounds unnatural to me. Sure, sibilance can be a huge problem, but I think it is too much. I repeat, this is just my opinion and I don't try to be a smart@ss.

I tried to keep it musical and natural, yet huge and punchy enough to be "competitive" for the pop music buisness. I came up with a fun outro. I made a soundscape to make it sound like there is someone with a small radio listening to the song under moonlight in the woods as the song "suggests" ;). This is not a mastered version. It sure has some mix bus processing (photo)
Mixed this ITB using Pro Tools 10 with my Focal Solo 6

Does anyone know, if the contest is already over and the winners are selected?

And maybe is it bad if I forget this thread while uploaded the track? I read all the descriptions (on puremix's website) but there wan't a notice to join this thread. Just here in this thread it's noticed.. :confused:
